Getting to Costa Rica

When flying to Costa Rica you will land either in San Jose or Liberia. Hacienda del Sol is on the west coast of the Guanacaste Peninsula near Nosara and San Juanillo. Nosara has an airport. (See the little airplane on the map below San Juanilla.) You can fly from San Jose to Nosara.

There are 2 international airports in Costa Rica. One in San Jose and one in Liberia.

Once in the Country, how do you arrive at Hacienda Del Sol Retreat?

From San Jose
A 40 minute flight from San Jose to Nosara airport or a 5 1/2 hour drive by bus or rental vehicle from San Jose. You can or we can arrange a taxi from Nosara airport to Hacienda del Sol. The fee is $25.00 for that trip.

Rental Cars are also available there.Hola Rental Car has served many of our clients well.

We recommend you stay at 'Brilla Sol' when you arrive in San Jose. US$45.00 (single) US$55.00 (double) per night inlcudes breakfast.

They will pick you up when you arrive at the airport. The next day you can take the plane to Nosara or else the bus to Santa Cruz ~ Luis & Flor will drive you to the airport or to the bus station.

From Liberia
If you fly into Liberia where there is an international airport you could
taxi into Liberia and take a bus from there to Santa Cruz and proceed as above. Or if you prefer to taxi from there a good reliable taxi driver is Manuel Duarte B. tel. cell 506 822 6519 or home 506 697-0563 email guanacasteviajes@yahoo.com His price is $100.00

If busing is your preferred option:

From Santa Cruz take a taxi or walk to the bus station near Maxi Bodega (a large supermarket) and catch the bus to San Juanillo. There are three buses daily now: 4:00am, 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm.
Be there early as they fill up quickly.

You will be on the bus for about 2 hours. When you arrive at San Juanillo, don´t get off as you can go another 1.5 kilometers towards Ostional - and get off at the Hacienda del Sol Sign and walk in (it´s not far) - this is the cheapest way.

If you caught a later bus to Santa Cruz then you must take a taxi to Hacienda del Sol from Santa Cruz which is about c17,000 - c20,000 ($38 - $40.00)
